Hi I am self tough tattooist. After inked myself, fake skins and uncountable fruits, I think it’s time for me to start ink people for practice more and get a better portfolio. Any idea how could I do that without going through an apprenticeship?

Hi Alex, as there are more aspects to tattooing than just the art itself, we recommend that you seek the advice of a professional tattoo artist and get some training. Especially hygiene and knowledge about cross-contamination, wound healing and dealing with tattoo clients should be learned from a professional. They can also teach you the most important legal aspects. If your teacher thinks you are ready to tattoo a client under their supervision, they may recommend that you practice on friends first. You should only tattoo people you don’t know when you are really sure of what you are doing and also achieve a satisfactory result in the long run.
