I’m wanting to become a professional tattoo artist, however, I’m only a beginner now. Two people have asked to see my portfolio but only one had something not so good to say and told me to go get an apprenticeship if I ca. So I took her advice and messaged a company about an apprenticeship or training but haven’t heard back from them. No one is willing to help me or take a chance on me, I just feel frustrated and going no where. What advice can you offer me or where to start?

Hi, thanks for your question.

You are doing the right thing by looking for an apprenticeship, this is 100% the way forward. Just remember all UK artists are still trying to catch up from the pandemic and not many will have the time for an apprentice at the moment due to the huge backlog of appointments. We’d advise you to keep trying, keep practising the drawing and maybe get some practice skin and try to self-teach while waiting for the right opportunity. Keep going.

Thanks
