Hi Jessica, tattooing is art and every artist has their own style and techniques to transfer colour onto their work surface. Tattooing can often look like painting a picture, but the tattoo artist has to concentrate better than a painter, as careless work cannot be revised. In addition, the tattoo artist has to find the right depth to get the ink into the skin effectively. Pain is completely normal and is just as much a part of the tattooing process as the healing process and the subsequent care of the tattoo throughout its lifetime.

The tattoo artist is similar to a painter who paints a picture, therefore the colouring is also similar to the painting of a picture. However, the tattoo artist has to consider other aspects such as hygiene, stitch depth and the individual characteristics of the skin.
