Tattoo Advice Hub>Questions>Im currently in the process of setting up a private tattoo studio. I was just wondering if i plan to run the studio on completly disposable tattoo equipment (cartridges, grips ect), is a second sink (dirty sink) still an essential for cleaning tattoo equipment? I have a clean sink installed which will be solely used for a handwash station (hot and cold water feed to a temperature mixing valve, foot pedal operated). But am just unsure about a second sink for cleaning equipment as i will be using disposable? Thanks in advance š¤š¼

In the UK most councils require you to have a clean sink for hand washing and a ‘dirty’ sink for contaminated waste such as the water used for dipping your needle, mop bucket water etc. So, although going completely disposable will mean the dirty sink is not needed as much, it will still be needed for items used for cleaning the studio rather than cleaning of equipment. Ultimately the decision will be down to your local council but we recommend having a second sink for better hygiene in all cases.
